Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

 

Job overview

As a Service Unit Manager, you will work alongside the management team and be responsible for managing and developing Cardiology Services across the Broomfield and Tertiary Sites within the MSE.

The post holder will be operationally responsible for the day to day running of the service, and will be required to monitor national performance targets specific to ensure they are achieved, and ensure corrective action is taken when necessary. Monitor medical staffing daily and escalate where necessary.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the General Manager for Cardiology and working closely with the Mid Essex and Basildon DGH service manager, Clinical leads for each site and heads of nursing. You will ensure we deliver high quality services, provide an excellent experience for our patients and meet ur regulatory and operational performance targets. Supported by strong senior leadership teams you will seek, share and drive opportunities to deliver high standards of clinical care whilst ensuring delivery of operational, financial and transformational agenda.

You will be intellectually flexible, highly analytical and confident to challenge the status quo while building excellent working relationships that quickly enable you to become a trusted and credible leader across all staff groups. You will be focused on outcomes and motivated by your drive to deliver the highest quality care while ensuring the best possible patient experience.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent
  • Masters or above equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Project Management Qualification
  • Experience of managing services within an Acute Trust

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of demand and capacity and activity planning
  • Significant management experience or equivalent obtained through a combination of continuous professional development and training courses including evidence of directly line managing a team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the duties imposed on the Trust by legislation, NHS policy and priorities and the requirements of corporate governance
