Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As per personal/professional development review.

Supervision of undergraduate students where required.
Undertake a chosen Champion Role to support other practitioners in a specialist area.
Once trained, responsibility for undertaking Blood Spot Screening where required for one off or annual testing.
Attendance at Team Meetings and Forums to support professional development.
Attend regular PHN meetings for updates and suppor

We provide a Multi-professional preceptorship programme that is aligned to the National Preceptorship Framework for Nursing and have been awarded the Interim quality mark from NHS England. Our programme is provided to all Newly Qualified; Nurses, Nursing Associates, Internationally Educated Practitioners, Allied Health Professionals and Return to Practice Practitioners. In addition to the programme we also offer all preceptees the opportunity of enrolling and completing the level 7 (Masters) 15 credit validated module “Preceptorship for Healthcare” (AP7026).

Newly qualified Social Workers are offered the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment programme (ASYE) which is similar to a preceptorship programme.

Essential criteria

Registered Nurse/Midwife - membership of NMC
Level 3 GSCP Safeguarding Children Training
Evidence of continuous professional development

Desirable criteria

Teaching and Assessing qualification e.g. ENB 998 or similar

Skills and Experience

Essential criteria

Has experience working within Public Health Nursing and demonstrates applicable knowledge linked to the Healthy Child Programme
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of Child Protection Local and National policies
Demonstrates good organisational and communication skills

Desirable criteria

Able to use various IT systems for recording activity and requisitions

Demonstrates able to work well within a team and alone when required

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.

ADOS Autism Assessor for Children and Young People, based in our Exeter clinic

Time commitment: Full-time employment is preferred, though we can also offer part-time (minimum of 3 days per week) or a self-employed role (again a minimum of 3 days per week).

Location: This role is in-person based at our Exeter, Devon clinic.
