Undergraduate Medical Education (Medicine & Surgery)
Applications are invited for the above posts, based at Redwood Education Centre, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital to start from 5th August 2026 for 12 months fixed term. Working within Gloucestershire Academy, the largest academy campus outside Bristol, the post holders will be involved in the education of medical students from Years 2-5 of the University of Bristol, along with medical students from Three Counties Medical School

Main duties of the job
The post offers the opportunity to be involved in the education of medical students from Years 2-5 of the University of Bristol, along with medical students from Three Counties Medical School. Successful candidates spend on average 90% of the week involved in teaching and preparation with the other 10% pursuing clinical interests. Post holders will undertake a certificate in medical education at the University of Bristol, which will be funded in full by Gloucestershire Academy. The Academy has an excellent reputation for providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students. We encourage teaching fellows to participate in educational research.

1 of a team of 10 Undergraduate Clinical Teaching fellows working at both GRH/CGH with an office base on both sites.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To support and develop the delivery of medical education to medical students within the Academy structure.
- To develop competence in medical education and specifically to develop teaching skills through studying for the certificate in medical education.
- To develop teaching materials and enhance learning within the clinical skills lab.
- Act as a role model and first point of contact for the student body during their stay in Gloucestershire
- Contribute and participate in the assessment process for all medical students, both at a local and regional level including hosting the OSCE examinations at CGH.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Medical Practitioner with MB.BS or equivalent
- Qualified more than 2 years at start of post. Competent in history taking and examination skills

Desirable criteria
- Good Academic Record;Intercalated BSc/higher degree;Part 1 MRCP
- Evidence of audit or quality improvement projection
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of Foundation Training
- Evidence of experience of teaching Medical Students
- NHS experience
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of recent CME/ reasonable training progression at this stage of career.
