Job overview
An opportunity has arisen within the Cardiothoracic Investigations Unit at the Hampshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for an Associate Practitioner.
We are looking for a motivated and driven Band 4 Associate Practitioner with previous experience of working within a busy cardiology department and the ability to lead and develop an expanding team of Cardiographers.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate suitable relevant development by either having attained or be working towards the SCST Certificate / Foundation Certificate / Diploma or an equivalent or higher relevant qualification.
The successful candidate will help expand and support our Cardiac Investigations service, working within the team to provide a high quality of care to our patients. The ability to work both independently and in a team is essential.
Main duties of the job
- Competently use IT systems for configuration, analysis and reporting of cardiac investigations.
- Perform cardiac investigations, appropriate to role, safely and proficiently for adult and paediatric patients, escalating significant findings to senior members of staff.
- Keep accurate records of patient information and results.
Assist with resolving patient enquiries. - Ensure that all equipment is fully functioning and maintained to the required servicing and maintenance requirements.
- Ensure that the investigations performed are in accordance with the Trust policies and protocols on infection control, risk management, data protection and Health and Safety.
- Participate in the training and development of other healthcare employees and trainees.
- Communicate and interact effectively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure a safe and positive patient experience.
- Complete a logbook of evidence and assessments to demonstrate clinical competence.
- Engage in internal and external education to reinforce and further develop clinical knowledge.
- Assist with service development within the Cardiac Investigations unit.

Essential criteria
- GCSE level education or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Foundation degree in Healthcare Science or related subject
- SCST qualification
- Basic life support (BLS)
Experience & Knowledge

- Experience of working in a cardiology healthcare environment
- Basic understanding of human anatomy and physiology
- Computer Literate
Desirable criteria
- Experience of leading a small healthcare team
