An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Locum Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant to join our established team of Diabetes and Endocrinology specialists, providing high-quality, patient-centred care across North and Mid Hampshire. The successful candidate will join a department of experienced consultants and a growing multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery and development of both inpatient and outpatient Diabetes and Endocrinology services.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide consultant leadership across Diabetes and Endocrinology services, supporting:
- Specialist inpatient Diabetes and Endocrinology care
- General medical ward support within a 25-bedded medical ward
- Triage of referrals and Advice & Guidance requests
- Inpatient Diabetes and Endocrine reviews
- Specialist outpatient clinics in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Diabetic Foot services
- Multidisciplinary team working alongside specialist nurses, dietitians, resident doctors and wider healthcare professionals
- Teaching, training and supervision of junior medical staff
- Clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development initiatives
There are opportunities to further develop specialist interests including:
- Young adult and transition services
- Insulin pump therapy
- Community integration programmes
- Sub-specialty endocrinology services
- Research and innovation projects

Essential criteria
- • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- • Entry onto GMC specialist register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview
- • MBBS or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- • Completed UK training programme in Diabetes/ Endocrinology
- • Previous NHS Experience
Clinical Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Broad experience in Diabetes and Endocrinology
- • Able to look after Diabetes, Endocrinology and general medical in-patients.
- • Evidence of research and audit
Clinical Skills and Ability
Essential criteria
- • Provide a good standard of clinical care
- • Maintain good medical practices
- • Respect the rights and maintain trust of patients
- • Willingness to contribute to education of trainees and colleagues
Research and Teaching Skills
Essential criteria
- • Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems
- • Awareness of current Diabetes and Endocrinology initiatives and developments
- • Recent relevant clinical teaching experience within medical and allied disciplines
Desirable criteria
- • Participation in research
- • Formal training in clinical supervision of junior doctors
- • Formal training in educational supervision of junior doctors

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
