Job overview

Are you seeking an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to NHS patients, carers, and staff, while benefiting from being part of an established and collaborative finance department? If you are looking to apply your financial expertise in support of the NHS, this role may be ideally suited to you.

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, organised, and enthusiastic individual to join the Finance Team at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Management Accountant. The successful candidate will work within a small, supportive, and professional team as part of the wider finance function. In this role, you will act as the Management Accountant for the Surgery Division, working closely with colleagues based across both the Winchester and Basingstoke sites. The Finance Team is primarily based in Basingstoke and operates a hybrid working model. The team works collaboratively to support the Trust’s strategic aims and is encouraged to take a proactive and innovative approach to continuously improving processes and ways of working.

The HHFT Finance Department is committed to developing its workforce and actively supports staff in studying toward CCAB or other recognised professional accountancy qualifications. The Trust offers financial support for course fees and provides study leave for those enrolled in the staff training programme.

Main duties of the job

To ensure the maintenance of accurate financial records and the operation of robust processes, undertaking the necessary reviews and analytical work required to support the delivery of the monthly and annual financial reporting and planning cycles. Furthermore, to provide comprehensive financial support to the Assistant Finance Manager (AFM) and Divisional Finance Manager (DFM), contributing to the effective functioning of the FP&A team and the Surgery Division.

Working for our organisation

Our vision is to provide outstanding care for every patient. Patient care is at the heart of what we do at our three sites: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and Andover War Memorial Hospital. Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides medical and surgical services to a population of approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire.

Our cultural ambition is to have a culture that places people at the heart of all we do, where we all belong, and where learning, improvement and excellence thrive.

We provide specialist services to people across the UK and internationally. We are one of only two centres in the UK treating pseudomyxoma peritonei (a rare form of abdominal cancer) and we are leaders in the field of tertiary liver cancer and colorectal cancer.

The trust employs more than 9,000 staff and has a turnover of over £500 million a year. As a Foundation Trust, we are directly accountable to our members through the governors. The Council of Governors represent the interests of their constituencies and influence the future plans of the Foundation Trust.
