Job overview

Hampshire Hospitals has a vacancy for experienced bank CT radiographer working with Canon Prism and Canon Prime scanners.  

This job would be covering sites at Royal Hampshire County hospital in Winchester and Andover War Manorial Hospital.

Main duties of the job

We undertake a wide variety of CT imaging examinations to complement these specialities including body imaging, and CT colonography. We also perform a wide range of cardiac, vascular, oncological, MSK, trauma and neurological studies.

 We are looking for a Radiographer who has 

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria:

  • BSc Diagnostic Radiography of equivalent
  • HCPC registration

Desirable criteria

  • IV cannulation/ drug administration
  • Post graduate training
  • Knowledge and experience

Essential criteria

  • NHS radiographic experience
  • Evidence of mandatory training
  • Sound clinical knowledge,
  • Knowledge of IR(ME)R
  • CT Canon experience

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc or equivalent in Radiography
  • HCPC Registration
  • IV training and compentence
Desirable criteria
  • RPS training
  • Post graduate training in CT
  • Post graduate training in Leadership/Management

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Able to demonstrate extensive clinical experience and knowledge of a wide range of CT scans.
  • Detailed understanding of radiation protection, associated regulations and application in practice
  • Effective IT skills
  • Experience with PACS and RIS
  • Understanding of patient safety
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working in the NHS
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience in Interventional CT procedures

Skills & Ability

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of CT imaging skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – must be able to effectively communicate with colleagues, medical staff, patients and relatives
  • Ability to undertake all aspects of imaging in area of speciality.
  • Evidence of good organisational skills and can manage time effectively
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to supervise a team, undertake appraisals and train radiographers and students
  • Acceptance of responsibility.
  • Able to manage resources effectively.
  • Calm under pressure to ensure service provision.
  • Ability to safely use a wide range of moving and handling equipment as provided by the Trust
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to undertake cardiac CT
  • Able to undertake CT colonography

Essential criteria
  • Able to undertake Quality Assurance tests in line with regulatory requirements
  • Able work shifts across a 24/7 service
  • Requirement to be available outside of core hours to respond to major incident
  • Strong commitment to high quality, patient focussed imaging services.

  • Memberships of professional groups
  • Quality improvement experience
