Main duties of the job
To accurately check outpatient prescriptions, to counsel on the safe and effective use of medicines, to ensure adherence to the standard labelling requirements and SOPs, to ensure accurate stock levels are maintained, to champion safe dispensing practices and to provide advice to customers when required.

- Monday – Friday: 09:00 – 18:00
- Saturday: 09:00 – 13:00
- Sunday 10:00 until 16:00

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To work with the whole of UPL to provide the core service of the pharmacy, which is dispensing outpatient prescriptions. You will need to maintain a high standard of service in accordance with legislation and recognised good practice.
2. To adhere to the provided Standard Operating Procedures and to enforce them if they are not adhered to by any member of staff.
3. To undertake day-to-day technical duties, including checking outpatient prescriptions for accuracy and ensuring that relevant standards are followed. To provide advice to patients and health care professionals.
4. To help maintain the stock of the company in accordance with legislation and good practice, including rotation of stock and security.
5. To ensure that the dispensary is kept clean and tidy, and is running smoothly.
6. To undertake CPD and, if appropriate, to facilitate the CPD of other staff employed by the pharmacy.
7. To supervise the dispensary and shop staff.
Person specification
Qualifications, knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Appropriate ACPT qualification.
- Registered as an ACPT with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain.
- Proven track record of providing excellent customer care in a community or hospital pharmacy environment.
- Evidence of being able to cope with change.
- Experience in a Patient focused environment.
- Competent in use of IT equipment.
Desirable criteria
- Further relevant post-registration qualification
- Both community pharmacy and hospital pharmacy experience.
- Experience of robotic dispensing.
- Awareness of arrangements for homecare medicines
