Newly Qualified Nurse - Child

Band 5

Job overview

We are excited to recruit Newly Qualified Paediatric Nurses who are available to start with us between January and March 2027. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading NHS Trust and begin your nursing career within a supportive and forward-thinking children's service.

Main duties of the job

Having recently undertaken an ambitious £5.1m projectto  build our very own state-of-the-art children’s emergency and trauma department, Southampton Children’s Hospital is at the forefront of paediatric healthcare.

Our dedicated children’s hospital hosts a range of specialist paediatric services. This means that you have huge variety in the people you work with, the patients you see and the career pathways on offer to you.

At UHS, we’re guided by our values of putting patients first, always improving and working together. So if you’re dedicated to patient care, inspired to make progressive improvements, and a great collaborator; we’d love you to join us.

Working for our organisation

University Hospital Southampton is one of England's largest acute teaching Trusts, offering a wide range of learning and development opportunities to support your career aspirations.

Located on the south coast with an international airport and direct rail links to London, Southampton offers an ideal setting to live and work, with the New Forest, South Downs and Jurassic Coast .

We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalizing your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.

At UHS we’re committed to providing a flexible working environment where possible. Whether you are balancing family, study, or your wellbeing with your career, we want to support you so you can help our patients.

At UHS, we proudly champion individuality, recognizing that outstanding care is only possible with a diverse, inclusive team. We’re committed to creating an anti-racist, anti-discriminatory environment where everyone feels valued, safe, and empowered to make a meaningful impact in our communities. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences to join us in building a healthcare community where everyone can belong, thrive, and contribute.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Please note that this advert is specifically for Newly Qualified Paediatric Nurses with an expected start date between January and March 2027. Most vacancies within this recruitment campaign are based in our Paediatric Intensive Care Services. Therefore, successful applicants should have a genuine interest in caring for children and young people who require highly specialised and intensive levels of care. Enthusiasm for working within a complex paediatric critical care environment would be advantageous. There are a limited number of vacancies in the general wards as well and so this opportunity is also potentially available.
