Location: Royal Hampshire County Hospital (some working at Andover War Memorial Hospital as required)

Working Hours: Full time   - variable shifts.

Who we are: We are a friendly Radiology Department who undertake in excess of 340,000 examinations per year. The main facility is at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital and a satellite department at Andover War Memorial Hospital. The largest demand is in CT, MR and US.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Role Description: The candidate will work in the Radiology Department, with the opportunity to rotate through Plain Film, MRI, CT, Ultrasound and Interventional Radiology. This role involves assisting patient preparation for their imaging such as helping them to change and manual handling on to the examination tables. Also the Radiography Department Assistant will chaperone during examinations such as US, cannulate, perform basic aseptic technique and clinical observations, stock ordering and clean the equipment. They will use hospital IT systems to input and record data. This is an important role supporting the Radiology staff to provide a high quality service in a department with a large number of patients seen each day.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE’s in English & Maths
Desirable criteria
  • First Aid/Basic Life Support.
  • IT certificate.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Understand the role and responsibilities of the post.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in a Radiology department.
  • Previous experience in an NHS hospital or care facility.

Skills & Ability

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and patients
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Good organisational skills and can manage time effectively.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Literate, with a keen sense of accuracy.
  • Competent computer skills.
