Job overview
HHFT requires a Trust grade doctor to fulfil a general internal medicine post within the medical division. The postholder will be based on general internal medicine wards, experiencing a wide range of clinical cases including Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Elderly Care, Haematology and Acute Medicine. They have option to participate in the on-call rota.
The post holder will be predominately based at Royal Hampshire County Hospital, but should also be prepared to work at any HHFT site if required.
Working within a team of specialist Consultants and junior doctors, the post holder will be expected to initiate and provide sound clinical/medical practices to patients admitted to the Medicine division, whilst supporting patients’ family and friends demonstrating the patient is the central focus of care.
Main duties of the job
· Clerk and post take administration; writing in patients notes
· Undertake patient reviews
· Investigating and initiating medical management
· Patient assessment
· Drug prescription
· Discharge administration
· Promptly update patient systems
· Attend clinics
· Attend Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings.
· Facilitate daily board round with MDT
· Triage to medical teams/acute physicians as appropriate
· Trouble shoot patients on the ward
· Participate in ward rounds
Take part in the medical on-call shift system
