Job overview
To provide an efficient and comprehensive housekeeping service to all patients, visitors and staff while contributing to enhancement of patient care.
The Housekeeping service plays a vital role and is included as part of the ward/department team to ensure that a pleasant, safe, welcoming and clean environment is provided to patients, visitors and staff.
Main duties of the job
Undertake the collection, ordering and distribution of patient food in a timely manner at appropriate meal times in:
Taking menu orders directly from patients.
The serving of food directly to the patient when required.
Communicating with Catering Department regarding patient admission, transfer and discharge where there are special meal requirements.
Basic preparation of light snacks and beverages as required
Checking expiry dates on ward based catering supplies when required
To provide and receive routine information to inform work colleagues, patients, clients and service users. Particularly maintaining communication with Domestic Assistants and Nursing colleagues in relation to cleaning issues.
To use communicational skills (tact / persuasion) where required to deal with barriers to communication.
