Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic digital leader with strong managerial skills to fulfil a permanent post within the Clinical Systems Group (CSG) here at Wye Valley Trust. A keen eye for detail and building resilient processes is required to support our technical teams in the sustained delivery of PAS, EPR, EPMA and Community EMIS  systems for the Trust.

Working as part of the senior management team for the CSG you will  be responsible for aligning visions to aid in the improvement of procedures and efficiency gains to further deliver the team objectives. A comprehensive knowledge of operational practices  within an acute NHS Trust is key to ensuring we continue to improve service delivery, minimise data quality issues while reducing clinical risk in system design and implementation. This will be further supported through business analytics for ongoing work streams based in system integration and digital system optimisation.

Across the CSG we cover technical system management which is aligned to this role, testing functionality, training development and delivery as well as front line user support. We work closely with our clinical safety and benefits leads as well as the IM&T project team as part of the digital transformation and management of change required for continual improvement. Understanding the relationship and timescales for activity  across these disciplines is essential for the management of stakeholders and succinct delivery to our end users.

Main duties of the job

To lead the ongoing delivery and support of the clinical systems used at WVT and ensure function is supported by the clinical system managers and the teams working under them.

To work closely with ongoing project work ensuring that the developments the project work is delivering can be successfully integrated into the ongoing BAU systems support resource and that there is a roust plan for how this will be achieved.

System optimisation and support ongoing change to meet national standards

To ensure communication is maintained between all stakeholders, internal and external to the organisation

To ensure that organisational procedures are adhered to; objectives are identified and met; the identification and realisation of benefits are facilitated.

To provide leadership on the management, maintenance, development, monitoring and upgrading of the clinical systems that are under the scope of the clinical systems support structure, including those that come into scope in the future.

To work with the head of clinical systems, project team and Hoople to appraise new clinical system developments and prospective new clinical systems being considered for procurement by WVT to ensure this is fully rationalised.

Working for our organisation

Wye Valley NHS Trust is a member of an NHS Foundation Group with South Warwickshire NHS FT , the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust and Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

Located on the border with Wales in the shadow of the Black Mountains, we provide acute and community services across Herefordshire and into parts of Powys and run Hereford County Hospital and the community hospitals in Bromyard, Leominster and Ross-on-Wye.

We are a progressive and forward looking trust with ambitious plans to improve quality and integrate patient pathways through close collaborative working with our partners to deliver the quality of care we’d want for our family and friends.

More than 3,500 people work for the Trust – they tell us it’s a great place to work, blending the busyness of a DGH with the benefits of working in a beautiful rural and unspoilt county like Herefordshire.

We can offer a great work-life balance and have a fine tradition of working with staff to help them achieve their full potential.

Russell Hardy, Trust Chairman: “The strength of the Trust is its amazing staff; a great place to work, a great place to develop your career and a great place to reach your potential.”
