Job overview
The role of Specialised Cardiology Physiologist/ Clinical Scientist is to provide a high quality, patient focused, efficient Cardiac Physiology service within Wye Valley NHS Trust.
You will be involved in all aspects of the Heart and Lung Department in the purpose-built Cardiac Cath Lab unit working alongside leading Cardiologists.
The department has undergone a period of extensive growth and development. The post holder will work predominantly within the invasive service whilst providing support to the non-invasive service as required.
The post holder will have a high level of sensitive and effective communication skills with patients, their relatives and carers, staff and colleagues in the multidisciplinary team as required to fulfil the duties of the post particularly in critical clinical situations.
Main duties of the job
The cardiac catheterisation service includes left and right heart catheterisation, pacemaker and follow-up, and complex device implant and follow-up (CRT, ICD, Left Bundle Branch Area Pacing). The post-holder will be independent in angiogram, implant and follow-up for brady pacing and ILR clinic and should have experience in ICD and CRT, ideally with BHRS certification/IBHRE accreditation in full or part.
Full and ongoing training and support will be provided for the successful candidate with a view to acquire further qualifications and accreditation.
The post holder will be expected to liaise with other clinical teams and maintain good public relations on a one-to-one basis with the general public and other interest groups.

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good standard of general education
- Degree in Cardiac Physiology (or equivalent experience/skills BTech, HTec Cardiac Physiology)
- RCCP/AHCS registered or pending
- BHRS/IBHRE Certification in part or full
Desirable criteria
- MSc Cardiac Science
- HCPC registration — clinical scientist
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Able to provide leadership to multi-disciplinary teams
- Able to interpret and present information to support performance management
- Highly developed communication skills including interpersonal skills, liaison and negotiation skills, writing/presentation skills
