Responsible for supporting the Trust’s Health, Safety and Risk Officer in ensuring proactive specialist support, guidance and training in order for the Trust to achieve high standards for the management of risk and health & safety.

 

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for supporting the Trust’s Company Secretary and the Health, Safety and Risk Officer in ensuring proactive specialist support, guidance and training in order for the Trust to achieve high standards for the management of risk and health & safety.
  • The post holder(s) will be responsible for the provision of clerical and administrative support to Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee and the Corporate Risk Committee.
  • Responsibility for conducting specific risk and/or health & safety audits, incident investigations and projects as directed by the Health, Safety and Risk Officer.
  • The post holder(s) will require knowledge of legislation, national guidance and governmental documentation relating to risk management and health & safety.
  • The post holder(s) will be expected to liaise with Occupational Health, Health & Safety Executive (HSE), Auditors and other such bodies to ensure the Trusts meets its statutory obligations in the field of risk management and health, safety and welfare.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of general education, including GCSE English Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent relevant training and experience
Desirable criteria
  • IOSH Managing Safely Certificate
  • Risk Management Qualification
  • Educated to degree level

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of risk management, patient safety and integrated governance processes
  • Ability to analyse and manipulate complex data
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of NHS risk management framework and risk registers

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in an administrative or secretarial role, including experience of taking and transcribing formal minutes.
  • Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience of using IT systems to produce reports and correspondence which are timely, professional and accurate
