Job overview

The NHS Talking Therapies Service in Mid Essex, covering Braintree, Chelmsford, Maldon and surrounding towns and villages,  is looking to employ a full-time  Senior  Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner.  The role, working closely with the PWPs they supervise, plays a central role in ensuring our service is of the best quality, with the best outcomes for our service users. 

 

Main duties of the job

The key part of this role will be to provide clinical supervision, support and development for PWPs within the service. The Senior PWP will work alongside the Talking Therapies Operational Manager, Team Leaders and our other Senior PWPs and Senior Clinicians. As a Senior PWP, individual clinical supervision will be provided by a Senior Clinician within the team. There will be opportunities for ongoing professional development as well as the chance to contribute to further service development.

You will be an experienced PWP with at least 1 year post qualification experience and with a recognized Talking Therapies qualification in Step 2 intervention and will be registered or working towards PWP accreditation with the BABCP or BPS.  The position provides an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced PWP to lead in the further development of the PWP role as the service grows and ensure our team of PWPs are supported and supervised effectively. You will enjoy the flexibility of hybrid working and be based in Tekhnicon House, Braintree for a minimum of 2 days per week.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Undertake appropriate clinical supervision on a regular basis in accordance
    with the relevant professional guidelines and policies
  • Take personal responsibility for achieving agreed clinical activity in accordance with service policies.
  • To develop an area of special interest, to the level whereby the post-holder
    could become a resource of information for the whole service.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust.
  • Maintain appropriate clinical records in keeping with service operational policy
  • Participate in setting and review of objectives for the post on an annual basis
  • Participate in activities of ‘continuing professional development’ (CPD) on an annual basis.
  • Attend professional meetings as appropriate.
  • Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times.
  • Co-ordinate and liaise between different staff groups including Assistant psychologists, High Intensity Therapists.
  • Support the development and delivery of interactive psycho-education within a CBT framework to large groups of Service Users.

Person specification

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Talking Therapies supervision training and experience
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Talking Therapies step 2 working
  • Significant post qualification experience
  • Significant experience of working with people with common mental health problems
  • Significant post-qualification experience in offering and delivering the full range of evidence-based Talking Therapies low intensity interventions
  • Registered or working towards PWP accreditation with the BABCP or BPS
Desirable criteria
  • A related undergraduate degree, e.g. Psychology
  • Additional areas of training through short courses
  • Experience of delivering training to a range of professionals

AREAS OF EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within a Talking Therapies service
  • Significant knowledge of IAPT compliant step 2 ways of working
  • Knowledge of NHS policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Knowledge of working with diversity
  • Evidence-based practice
  • Knowledge of assessment procedures, screening, referral, record-keeping and evidence-based brief psychological interventions
  • Knowledge of outcome measures and their use for clinical and audit purposes
  • Knowledge of Child Protection legislation
  • Knowledge of clinical risk assessment
  • Ability to be self reflective, whilst working with service users, in own personal and professional development and in supervision
  • An understanding of the context of IAPT stepped care
  • Experience of having worked in a service where agreed waiting time and clinical outcomes targets are in place
  • Ability to manage own caseload and time

  • Experience of partnership working
  • Substantial experience of multi-disciplinary teamwork
  • Experience of audit and research
  • Experience of working in a supervisor role
  • Ability to carry out a range of evaluation and monitoring techniques
