Job overview

HUC  provides the  NHS111 and Out of Hours GP service to over 4.5 million patients across Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, West Essex and the South West of England. HUC is an exciting and supportive place to work.

This role involves assisting with the delivery of patient care including ECG recording and to provide support to health care professionals within a multi-disciplinary team, under the supervision of the clinician and within the group parameters of practice.

Main duties of the job

 

The role involves a range of key responsibilities, including ECG recording, chaperoning, and managing vaccine storage and monitoring. It also includes re-stocking medical equipment, maintaining consulting rooms, and ensuring environments and equipment are prepared for patient care. The position supports health and wellbeing initiatives by helping to raise awareness and collect relevant data, while also ensuring stock is maintained and restocked as needed. Additionally, the role involves regularly checking patient observations in the Urgent Treatment Centre and ensuring life-saving equipment is properly stocked.

Furthermore, the role includes welcoming and directing visitors, supporting clinical staff with tasks like vital signs and tests, and overseeing medical equipment checks and maintenance. You will assist in meeting local and national targets, reducing emergency department visits, and maintaining infection control audits. The position also involves ensuring Health & Safety compliance, serving as Fire Co-Ordinator, and keeping the department organized, while working with the administrative team to support smooth service delivery and implement new systems.

Person specification

Experience and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 healthcare or relevant specialty
  • Experience in auditing
  • Recent and relevant healthcare experience in an acute or community environment
  • Experience of managing patients in a clinical or outpatient setting
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 healthcare or relevant specialty
  • Meaningful experience in a healthcare setting
  • Ideally a sound working knowledge of Adastra
