Main duties of the job
This substantive full-time post has been developed to provide middle grade support for chemotherapy services at the Lister Hospital and to support clinical haematology services across the trust.
There is no on-call commitment.
The post holder will be responsible to the Clinical Director of Pathology, at the Lister Hospital, Dr Ashish Narula. The consultants for whom they are working with will provide direct clinical supervision for the post holder.
This is an excellent opportunity within the Haematology department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, based at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, which enjoys a unique geographical location close to London and Cambridge. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To recognise and initiate management of newly occurring medical problems in patients receiving anti-cancer treatment.

To assess and manage new and follow up out patients in Haemato-oncology clinics under the supervision of the appropriate Consultant specialist

To liaise with chemotherapy specialist nurses over the organisation and delivery of chemotherapy

Qualifications / Training
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration with a Licence to Practice
- MRCP or evidence of equivalent qualification
- Advanced Life Support Certificate or equivalent
- Up to date ALSE certification
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
- Shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty; or Shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
- Demonstrate an interest in, commitment to and have broad experience in Haematology
- Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion
- Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice
Skills
Essential criteria
- Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors.
- Evidence engagement with appraisal and revalidation
