We are delighted to be able to offer a development opportunity to join our Children and Young People's Integrated Therapies team as a locality Team Lead. If you are a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech & Language Therapist who is passionate about building teams, providing innovative and evidenced based services, and are keen to develop your leadership skills, this opportunity could be just right for you!
We have a 9 months fixed term post in our North team, and the postholder's base will be Danestrete Health Centre in Stevenage. You will lead an integrated team of therapists and assistant practitioners together with a team lead partner, and work alongside other team lead colleagues; and be supported by Operational leads.
You will be expected to use leadership skills to support a high functioning specialist team. You will have day to day operational responsibility for a quality service delivery, as well as the opportunity to take on service development projects.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will:
- Be responsible for the day to day management of the management of the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy team, and provide support to a team of therapists and assistant practitioners ensuring an effective and high functioning team.
- Ensure the policies and procedures of HCT are implemented and adhered to at all times and that team members are familiar with them.
- Ensure that staff perform effectively and safely, taking appropriate action and escalating as necessary.
- Contribute actively to the promotion of CYP Therapies as a profession.
- Participate in the recruitment and retention of staff.
- Work alongside operational colleagues to ensure adequate management cover at all times
- Lead on the continuous professional development of the workforce, supporting the Operational Lead with the development of services, performance capability, governance initiatives and the development of policy and practice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will be joining a well-established, supportive team of therapists and assistants. CYP Therapies at HCT pride ourselves on the support we provide to staff. As a Highly Specialist Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist you will have the opportunity to facilitate professional supervision groups and provide managerial supervision to less experienced colleagues.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Recognised Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy/ Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent (Post Graduate Diploma or MSc in Speech & Language Therapy leading to registration with HCPC)
- HCPC Licence to Practice
- Registered member of relevant Professional Association
- Continued Professional Development evidenced by attendance at short specialist postgraduate courses to maintain and develop own specialist knowledge and expertise.
Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience of undertaking appraisal and planning CPD for less experienced staff
- Experience of professional supervision of staff
- Working knowledge of electronic patient record system
- Experience of working with different professional disciplines and agencies
- Experience of working within the SEND process
Skills and abilities
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written, including the ability to liaise and negotiate
- Knowledge of barriers to understanding & ability to explain complex issues simply
- Computer literate including use of Excel spreadsheets, databases and PowerPoint
- Consistently demonstrate highly developed interpersonal skills and empathy with clients, carers and other professionals and agencies particularly where barriers to understanding exist
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain effective functioning when working with difficult situations and people
