Dentist Lead - Access Dental - Taunton - Devon and Dorset

Non NHS Banding

Job overview

Access Dental, part of HUC’s integrated urgent care service, is seeking a senior dentist to take on the role of Dentist Lead. In this key leadership position, you will provide expert clinical assurance for urgent dental care, supporting safe, effective and patient‑centred services across the organisation.

Working closely with operational, clinical and telephony teams, you will lead on quality, governance and best practice, while supporting dentists and staff to work in a positive, well‑governed environment. You will also contribute to service development, improving pathways and processes, and representing the dental service with system partners and external stakeholders at local, regional and national level.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced clinician to influence service design, strengthen standards and play a visible part in the continued development of urgent dental care.

This is a hybrid with regular on-site presence and travel across sites depending on business needs.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide clinical leadership, assurance and expert dental advice across HUC’s urgent dental services.

  • Review, monitor and refine urgent dental care pathways, processes and models of delivery.

  • Identify, lead and support service improvement and development initiatives.

  • Support the recruitment, induction, compliance and ongoing support of dentists.

  • Attend out‑of‑hours dental clinics and engage with dentists and wider staff teams.

  • Participate in dental and wider HUC management meetings and deputise for the Dental Clinical Director as required.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical governance, policies, procedures and standard operating procedures.
