Salaried Out of Hours General Practitioners (Face to Face GP)

Job overview

HUC provides the NHS 111 and Out of Hours GP service to over 4.5 million patients across Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, West Essex and the South West of England.

We are looking for skilled and patient-centred General Practitioners for our Out of Hours bases. The sessions include visiting, base, consultation and triage.  All sessions are face to face.

The shifts times are:

* Bridgewater
Saturdays: 8:00 - 17:00

* Shepton Mallet
Monday - Friday: 19:00-23:00, 23:00-08:00
Saturday - Sunday: 08:00-16:00,  16:00-23:00, 23:00-08:00

* Taunton
Tuesday - Friday: 19:00-23:00, 23:00-08:00
Saturday - Sunday: 08:00-16:00,  16:00-23:00, 23:00-08:00

* Yeovil
Monday - Thursday: 19:00-02:00
Saturday - Sunday: 08:00 - 17:00

We require minimum 8 hours per  week. 

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered care in line with GMC Good Medical Practice and HUC standards.

  • Make autonomous clinical decisions, assessing and managing patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

  • Maintain clear, accurate, and contemporaneous consultation records to agreed standards.

  • Prescribe safely and appropriately in accordance with the HUC formulary.

  • Effectively manage caseloads to reduce unnecessary demand on face-to-face and emergency services.

  • Collaborate with operational managers and the wider team to ensure seamless service delivery and timely patient care.

  • Uphold best practice in safeguarding, clinical governance, and all general responsibilities expected of a GP.
