This is a transformative leadership opportunity for an innovative and influential senior HCPC-registered professional, to join HUC as Head of Allied Health Professions (AHP) and Infection Prevention & Control (IPC). In this pivotal role, you will provide strategic leadership for our AHP workforce while driving forward our Infection Prevention & Control agenda to ensure the safe, effective and person-centred care that HUC is known for. Working alongside senior leaders and system partners, you will champion AHP contributions to population health, reduce health inequalities and embed integrated ways of working.
You will have the opportunity to influence policy, shape services, and support innovation that strengthens both workforce sustainability and service transformation. Alongside leading IPC excellence, you will ensure compliance with national standards and foster a culture of continuous quality improvement across our services.
This high-profile role offers the chance to grow as a leader, strengthen your system-wide profile, and access structured development opportunities and leadership pathways. With HUC’s commitment to innovation, equity and excellence, this position provides a platform to make a lasting impact for patients, colleagues and the wider healthcare community.
Main duties of the job

Lead and develop HUC’s AHP workforce, setting high professional standards and championing transformation, integration, and innovation to deliver excellent, patient-centred care across services.
-
Provide visible leadership and expert guidance on both AHP and IPC agendas, ensuring that strategies, policies, and practice fully meet statutory, regulatory, and national standards.
-
Oversee all aspects of Infection Prevention and Control, including the design, delivery, and monitoring of robust systems and processes that safeguard patients and colleagues, embedding best practice across clinical teams.
-
Drive quality improvement and assurance by leading audits, managing risks, and supporting incident investigations, ensuring clear accountability and sharing learning to continually improve services.
-
Shape workforce strategy through effective planning, recruitment, development, and retention of skilled, motivated, and resilient multi-professional teams able to meet current and future service needs.
-
Act as a trusted advisor to the Board and senior leaders, providing professional assurance, strategic input, and influencing organisational and system-level priorities.
-
Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture that values continuous improvement, professional growth, and partnership working with colleagues, regulators, commissioners, and wider system partners.
