Are you an enthusiastic dietitian with an interest in working with adults in the community?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic dietitian, to join the nutrition and dietetic community team in East and North Hertfordshire, delivering a service as part of the Intermediate Care Team in HCT.  The role includes clinics (face to face and virtual) and cover within the bed base units. This is an existing post, advertised as 37.5 hours, fixed term for 12 months.

Hertfordshire borders London to the north. The county is a mixture of towns, villages and rolling countryside. Central London is within easy reach as there are good road and rail links. There are good road networks, with the M25, A1 (M) and M1 crossing the district and the M40 close by. There are excellent rail services connecting with London, the North and the Midlands.

A full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purpose is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Main duties of the job

This is an existing post, advertised as 37.5 hours, for a fixed term of 12 months.  The successful candidate will work as part of the broader HCT Nutrition and Dietetic Service, which is Hertfordshire wide.

The role includes clinics (face to face and virtual), delivering group education, joint home visits, care home visits and supporting the dietitians for Discharge Home to Assess service and at Community hospitals.

We are an innovative service, working alongside various partners and specialties. We are part of the wider ICS Nutrition group, and work closely with our ICB colleagues on real food – food based initiatives.

We are committed to delivering a quality service, value staff training and CPD, participate regularly in student training and have a robust appraisal and supervisory framework. Electronic records are used throughout the Trust, further aiding our ability to work across a wide variety of settings and be in a position to work as part of an MDT, yet work remotely if needed as part of a hybrid approach to our work/ life balance.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To work under supervision to provide a dietetic service to adults as part of the Intermediate Care Team in East and North Hertfordshire.
  • To support colleagues in the provision of a dietetic service in community bed base units and clinics in the community using evidence-based practice and conforming to best practice
  • To liaise with clinical and non-clinical professionals, patients, family/carers, educational organisations, statutory and voluntary organisations in Hertfordshire.

Essential

  • • BSc Nutrition & Dietetics degree or equivalent
  • • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • • Member of British Dietetic Association
  • • Evidence of a clinical portfolio
  • • Up to date knowledge of dietetic practice
  • • IT literate
  • • Demonstrate an awareness of current relevant practice
  • • Evidence of working with patients requiring enteral nutrition via a feeding tube
  • • Presentation skills with examples
  • • Good communication skills with examples
  • • Good interpersonal skills with examples
  • • Good organisational and time management skills with examples
  • • Good motivational skills with examples
  • • Able to maintain judgement under pressure
  • • Ability to interpret clinical policies and guidelines within a highly specialist field to meet the needs of own client group
