At the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, Urgent and Emergency Care is central to the resilience of our organisation and our island health system. As the sole acute provider on the Island, performance in UEC and patient flow has a direct and visible impact on our community.
We are seeking an experienced and resilient operational leader to join us as the Deputy Director of Operations for UEC & Flow. This is a senior, high-profile role with responsibility for leading operational delivery across Emergency Department performance, site operations, internal patient flow and discharge coordination. If you thrive in fast‑paced environments where your vision, drive, and ability to bring people with you can make a tangible difference to patients every single day, we’d love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
The Deputy Director of Operations, in conjunction with the Care Group senior management team, is expected to support the division to deliver effective integrated clinical, operational and financial performance for the division.
This role is responsible for supporting the care group in delivering national and local access targets, along with ensuring all aspects of people, performance and financial objectives are delivered. The Deputy Director of Operations will provide strong operational leadership, ensuring that there are appropriate systems and processes in place to deliver objectives and drive forward the care groups within the division.
To enable them to execute this responsibility the post holder is expected to provide proactive and visible leadership. Leadership will span five key areas; supporting service transformation and development within the care groups, divisional leadership, people and personal leadership, quality leadership and collaborative leadership.
As part of the Care Group senior team the post holder is expected to work as part of a cohesive team and to take lead responsibility for corporate issues that directly relate to and impact on the division in order to achieve the corporate objectives of the Trust.
