As an Immunisation Nurse you’ll support the delivery of KCHFT’s immunisation programmes to children and adults across Kent and Medway as well as the trusts internal colleague vaccination programmes.
You’ll be part of an enthusiastic and passionate team dedicated to keeping the population safe and well, now and in later life, by protecting them against common infections and disease. You’ll provide clinical judgement and leadership to support your team to safely deliver routine immunisations in schools, homes, clinics and outreach settings, making sure that our communities are protected. Building good relationships with the local schools within Kent and Medway is a key part of this role.

We have part time opportunities available across Kent and Medway on a term time basis between the hours on 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

What will the role involve?

• Acting as the lead nurse for vaccination sessions
• Administering vaccinations in schools, homes and clinic settings
• Supporting unqualified team members, including supervision and mentoring of students and bank nurses
• Providing up to date information about current vaccinations to parents and external agencies
• Outreach and networking with internal and external agencies
 Undertake consent and triage
• Keeping up to date with changes in the green book, PGDs and national guidelines.
• Having  a clear understanding of your responsibilities in Safeguarding Children and YP
• Understanding of children and YP with special and complex needs, including needle phobia
• Using clinical databases (such as digital consent systems) to target and improve uptake and KPIs
• Attending and contributing to  all meetings in order to promote and develop the service
• Knowledgeable and competent in maintaining the cold chain
• Responding to local and national outbreaks


Previous vaccination experience is welcome but not essential just a willingness to learn and respond well to feedback. We provide full induction training, regular coaching and the support and encouragement needed to get you off to the best start. This role does require you to be able to travel to and from community settings within Kent and Medway.
