Job overview

We are looking to second a Band 6 Junior Sister / charge nurse within Outpatients at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital and Estuary House, Whitstable.

Outpatients services are delivered across a multiple location including, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital, William Harvey Hospital Ashford, Kent & Canterbury Hospital, Buckland Hospital Dover, Royal Victoria Hospital Folkestone and Estuary View. 

The Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse role is the key supporting function to the Senior Matron to enable the optimal care of our outpatients and to the Trust. The delivery of a high, effective and compassionate care is the most important role within the organisation.

 Outpatients Services are delivered between 8am and 6.30pm Monday – Friday, but there may be in the future requirements to support evening and weekend clinics.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role is to support the Senior Matron in service delivery, including clinical governance, financial delivery and managerial leadership, including the effective management of clinical teams, which includes performance and sickness absence management, managing clinical and non-clinical risk reporting to the Outpatient Senior Matron within the Care Group Clinical governance framework.

Ensuring  effective policies and process management in all aspects related to clinical areas.

Leading staff training and development to establish highly motivated, well trained teams.  Identify and minimise clinical and non-clinical risk issues reporting to the Senior Sister and other senior staff.
