We are looking for an applicant to work as an Assistant Healthcare Scientist within the Pathology at Kent & Canterbury Hospital. This is a fixed term 12 month contract only.
The post holder will possess good keyboard skills with a high level of accuracy and must be a good team player with a very flexible approach to working. They should be a highly motivated and an enthusiastic individual educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent. A keen eye for detail and an aptitude for science are preferred. Exceptional customer service is required in this role.

Main duties of the job
The post includes receiving and checking of samples, data entry, interacting with patients and other service users, dealing with phone queries as well as some other basic laboratory tasks including working in the blood sciences laboratory.
The post holder will work within the Blood Sciences laboratories of Pathology and work within the team of AHCS who assist Biomedical Scientists in pre analytical duties such as the centrifugation of samples, maintenance of equipment, stock management and loading/ unloading analysers. Good keyboard skills are essential as well as high level of accuracy, good literacy, numeracy and communication skills especially over the phone. The applicant must be an excellent team player and be able to carry out detailed, repetitive tasks. The post includes receiving and checking of samples, data entry, interacting with patients and other service users, dealing with phone queries as well as other basic laboratory tasks.
The successful applicant will be required to participate in the ‘7-day working’ pattern including Bank Holidays.
We currently hold UKAS Accreditation, an HTA Licence and are an IBMS training laboratory.
