Job overview
We have an opportunity for an AHP Apprentice Lead, as part of the AHP Leadership team to support the AHP Practice Development and Education Lead and AHP Practice Placement Facilitator.
The role will offer you a varied and wide-ranging professional development opportunity in education and Allied Health Profession apprentice learning.
The post will involve the coordination and monitoring of the learning experiences of level 3 AHP apprentices, OT Degree Apprentices, and Peer Apprentices. Working with universities within the region and beyond, the focus of the role is to ensure quality apprentice experiences for allied health professionals including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, paramedics, and Prosthetics.

Main duties of the job
KEY RESULT AREAS:
• Lead the growth of AHP Apprenticeship programmes.
• Streamline the AHP Apprentice recruitment pathways.
• Co-ordinate and provide on-site support, educational input, and developmental activities for teams, work-based mentors, and AHP Apprentices.
• Working collaboratively with the AHP Practice Development and Education Lead and AHP Practice Placement Facilitator providing support in the AHP Practice Education Team as required; reporting to the AHP Leadership team.
• Working in partnership with Universities/Colleges to develop, coordinate, evaluate, and support the implementation of education programmes with providers.
• Lead the development of work-based mentors.
The right person for this role is required to work independently, have high levels of digital literacy, manage their workload autonomously, and be involved in decision-making.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Registered Allied Health Professional with a breadth of clinical experience
- • Practice educator
Desirable criteria
- • Evidence of post graduate development through formal postgraduate courses or experience
- Registered member of the relevant professional body and / or special interest group
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- • Experience of managing complex and competing demands with internal and external stakeholders
- • Delivering teaching and presentations to develop staff and learners
- • Ability to make decisions autonomously and co-operatively as part of an inter-professional team
Desirable criteria
- • Experience of coaching, mentoring, managing and developing staff
- Experience within a clinical leadership / professional role
Understanding
Essential criteria
- An understanding of the broad aims of current national and local healthcare education and apprentice programmes/policies/guidance
Desirable criteria
- • Knowledge of current AHP Apprentice programmes in both clinical and education settings

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
