Job overview
We're recruiting for a full-time Specialty Doctor in Paediatrics based in Coxheath.
You will be responsible to named consultants. The arrangement of duties will be agreed between the responsible consultant and the Community Specialist.
This post would be particularly suitable for a forward thinking, innovative individual seeking an exciting opportunity to help plan and deliver modern dynamic Community Children’s services.
The Community Paediatricians are expected to cover each other during periods of leave and should, therefore, discuss their leave intentions.
The Community Specialty Doctor is professionally responsible to the Medical Director and managerially responsible to the Consultant Community Paediatrician and Head of Service.
Main duties of the job
The broad responsibilities of the post are:
• Second and third tier community Paediatrics assessments
• Neurodevelopmental and Behavioural Paediatrics
• Looked After Children’s medical assessments and assessments for Social Services
• Child Health Promotion, Educational medicine
• Education and training and trainee supervision and teaching Clinical audit/governance
• Research opportunities/expectations
• Show clinical leadership, work with consultants /clinical director to set standards and supervise trainees.
• A suitable applicant for the whole-time post is sought but applicants able to work part-time are also considered.
• The post holder will not be expected to participate in acute on-call duties.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Medical Degree, MBBS or equivalent
- Full GMC registration
Desirable criteria
- Post Graduation Qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Paediatric experience
- Significant post qualification experience
Desirable criteria
- Willing to work unsupervised, but with awareness of limitations
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Good written and oral communication
- Excellent clinical skills within area of speciality
- Ability to use a range of IT programmes including PowerPoint, Word and Excel
- Demonstrates experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk.
