Alcohol Care Team Occupational Therapy Assistant

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Occupational Therapy department as a band 3 occupational therapy assistant, with opportunity to work as part of the Alcohol care team offering intervention and rehabilitation to those patients with confirmed or suspected alcohol related brain injuries. 

Our occupational therapy assistants support qualified therapists with patient's rehabilitation on the acute hospital wards, provision of equipment and access visits to patients homes. 

Main duties of the job

To support occupational therapists (OTs) in the intervention and rehabilitation of patients

To treat patients as delegated by OT, monitoring the patient progression and liaising with the OT regarding outcomes

Work unsupervised with identified patients and reporting back

To carry out administrative duties within the department to support the Occupational Therapy team

To actively engage in therapy assistants training and peer support group

To support OT students on placement at Darent Valley Hospital

  • NVQ level 3 in health and social care or equivalent career progression pathway criteria

Experience

  • Full clean driving licence and ability to travel from one destination to another within the Dartford, Gravesham, Swanley, Rochester, Medway and South East London areas in a timely manner and at short notice, to carry out access visits and transport and fit multiple pieces of equipment in patients’ homes
