Job overview

The MRI services at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust serve and support communities across the Kent region.  We are a large team MRI Radiographers and Radiographic assistants to support and deliver MRI service across East Kent region. Our operational sites include, three main hospital sites and newly formed CDC.  Our hardworking and progressive MRI team work across four base sites including CDC sites.  Community Diagnostic Centre at Buckland and proposed spoke model at Thanet Health Hub supports the NHS England vision of reforming diagnostic services provided to the local community. As a large acute Trust, we provide key services within the patient pathway, working hard as a team to continually deliver efficient and patient-centred services.

We are inviting applications from experienced, dynamic MRI Radiographers with leadership skill to offer the position of MRI superintendent Radiographer to work in a diverse MRI Radiographers team at East Kent Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

We are a busy, fast moving department with various skills and expertise. Service provides advanced imaging and support with modern technological challenges.  The service currently houses 8 x 1.5T scanners and 2x 3T scanners of various make and models including mobile scanners, operated by external service providers. We are seeking an experienced MRI Radiographers with people skills, dynamic with proven leadership skills in managing a team of Radiographers and running MRI service independently.

We offer both class room based learning and bespoke advice and the Learning and Development team are here to support our leaders through each step of their journey, from their first management role and beyond.

A flexible approach to the working day is essential. The successful candidate will be a HCPC Registered Radiographer with a wealth of MRI experience, both clinically and organisationally. Experience in Cardiac MRI scanning is desirable but not essential. We are looking for an exceptional candidate. Qualifications and training

Essential criteria
  • Bsc (Hons) / DCR Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
  • Health Professions Council Registered
  • Cannulation and venepuncture qualified
Desirable criteria
  • Post Grad MRI study

Experience

Essential criteria
  • 5 years post Degree/DCR qualification experience in MRI
  • Experience in leading a team within an acute hospital setting
  • Significant supervisory experience
  • Experience of managing a team effectively and leading to change
Desirable criteria
  • Previous management experience or responsibilities

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Effective communication skills and able to lead a team for change
  • Decision making and counselling skills

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • In depth knowledge in MRI Anatomy and able to guide the team

  • In depth understanding of the MRI Physics and its clinical applications
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in cardiac scanning, whole body imaging and other vascular imaging
