We are recruiting for a Ward Clerk who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
Main duties of the job
Ward Clerk Duties
Generally doing all admin work for the ward and supporting ward manager and team.
Admitting patient
Discharging patients
Booking Transport
Answering telephone queries
Welcoming visitors

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Admitting, discharging and transferring patients onto Bed Management System. Reviewing EDNS (as required) and ensuring patients’ personal details are up-to date and correctly entered onto the OASIS/PAS System. Inputting and amending Bed Occupancy System for Nursing Staff
Liaising with General Office regarding patients’ pensions/benefits
Arranging appointments for Outpatient clinics as directed
Preparing of patients EDN’s and admittance notification for GP’s for completion by medical staff
Arranging completion and issue of medical certificates for sickness benefits purposes
Arranging ambulance transportation where authorised
Ordering and maintaining ward stationery and supplies
Receiving telephone calls, taking and relaying messages and referring calls as appropriate
Answering patients and relatives general enquiries and assisting them with any problems throughout their stay
Welcoming visitors
Supporting the ward manager, Senior Nurse and Management Team

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE level including English or equivalent qualification/experience
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across the organisation liaising with different levels of personnel
- Good organisational skills, self-motivation, drive for performance and improvement, reliable and flexible in approach and attitude
- Computer literate including ability to use Microsoft packages such as Excel
