The successful applicant will be required to undertake a minimum of one 360 appraisal in a five year period to comply with the Revalidation process and to participate fully in the annual job planning review

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The key areas for the post-holder will include:

  • Contribute to the breast MDT and play an active part in the further modernisation and development of the service.
  • Play a major role in maintaining the 28 day, 31 day and 62 days targets for cancer patients and ensuring that other targets are met.
  • Assessment, care and treatment of patients presenting to the breast service.
  • Provision of clinical leadership in the delivery of a high quality breast service.
  • Providing teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate level. A role in the teaching of medical students is expected.
  • Participate in relevant audit and quality assurance processes, including reviews of manpower requirements.
  • Be involved in research
  • Abide by the clinical and corporate governance policies of the trust.

·       All Consultants will be required to undertake a minimum of one 360 appraisal in a five year period to comply with the Revalidation process.

·        The successful applicant will be expected to participate fully in the annual job planning review

·        Trust has an established formal development programme for newly appointed consultants including a mentorship approach to settling down as a new consultant.

·        There is a commitment from the trust and department to the appointee, that they will have equitable working conditions to their colleagues.  Achieved through team job planning and the Medical Job Planning Consistency Committee.

 

Person specification

Experiance

Essential criteria
  • Full registration with GMC and a licence to practise
  • Entry on the GMC specialist register: (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview if it has not already been awarded).
  • FRCS or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Sub-speciality training in breast surgery at level of the year 5 and 6 of the HST programme.
  • Experience in oncoplastic and reconstruction breast surgery- preferable
  • Sub-speciality training in breast surgery at level of the year 5 and 6 of the HST programme. Experience in oncoplastic and reconstruction breast surgery- preferable Clinical training and experience equivalent to that of gaining UK CSST.
