We are recruiting for a Clinical Trust Fellow F2 in Emergency Medicine (4 month post) who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and have the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited for a Clinical Trust Fellow in Emergency Medicine to work within in the Emergency Department. The post holder will work in close co-operation with nursing, managerial and medical colleagues to provide high quality healthcare to the Trust’s patients.         

These posts would be suitable for applicants who wish to consolidate their experience gained post Foundation years or for applicants who wish to gain more experience in emergency medicine.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

For the successful applicants there is an opportunity to gain and be signed off for Foundation year two competencies needed for further application. The post holder will be expected to maintain good logbooks / portfolios of evidence documenting their experience and competencies and will have to attend and meet F2 teaching requirements.

The duties will consist of the inpatient care and outpatient care of patients and other ED Consultants' patients when he/she is on shift.  He/she will admit and clerk patients to the Medway Maritime Hospital if required.

He/she will check the ED admissions and treatments giving advice and arranging treatment or operation after consulting the Registrar or Consultant concerned.  He/she will normally seek advice from his/her Registrar or Consultant before referring patients to other specialties.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A primary medical qualification recognised by the GMC and verified by Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates
  • ostgraduate qualification (MRCP (UK) part 1, MD or other higher degree in medicine or a medical subspecialty.
  • IELTS 7.5/OET medicine B or above

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Sound knowledge/background in Acute General Internal Medicine
  • Clinical Governance principles
  • Some understanding of principles of medical audit

Experience

Essential criteria
  • 3 years of post-qualification experience (including 1 year’s internship and at least 1 year in the specialty in which you intend to train whilst in the UK)
  • Must have been in clinical practice for 3 out of the last 5 years including the 12 months prior to GMC registration being granted with no gaps in employment.
  • Experience in managing acute unselected take

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Possess the skills, competencies and understanding of medicine at least equivalent to a UK graduate at the end of their CMT.
  • Effective communicator, able to work in a close-knit team and co-operate with all medical and nonmedical staff
  • Flexible, able to cover colleagues’ absence
