We are recruiting for a Endoscopy Staff Nurse who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to support the Medical Clinicians within the procedure rooms with various treatments for a mix of in-patients and out-patients.

They will be required on limited occasions, to take charge of the unit in the absence of a Clinical Sister and support junior staff and students who are working in the unit.

Training will be given for anyone applying with no experience

Supportive skills for assisting with procedures in the rooms.

Admission and recovery of all patients attending the unit and escalating any unwell patients or emergency situations.

Full training will be given for those who require it and encouragement for personal development in relation to working in endoscopy.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role will encompass specific responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care and expertise within the clinical area.

To help lead and coordinate the management  of the of the clinical area ensuring the highest standards of nursing practice and care are delivered as reflected by the unit philosophy.

Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of services users and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centred care principles.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RN1/RN2/RN12 Registered Nurse on the NMC register
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues
  • Knowledge of Evidence Based Practice
  • An understanding of Audit and Research Based Nursing Practice
  • Knowledge of the NMC Code of professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses and midwives

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working on own and in a team
  • Experience of working in the relevant area
  • Experience of co-ordinating a shift
