We are recruiting for a Advanced Practitioner Reporting Radiographer who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff. 

Main duties of the job

To work as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in an expert clinical practitioner role within diagnostic radiography.

The post holder will rotate through both the plain X-ray Radiographer reporting service and General X-ray. 

They will produce high quality, definitive, final radiology reports on the range of plain film axial and appendicular examinations. Referral sources will include GP, ED, IP  and OPD. They will be committed to the general X-ray rota when not reporting.

The post holder will contribute to the site management of the Radiology service when required to. Active involvement in ongoing training for junior staff is expected.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide independent timely, accurate and appropriate reports for the range of, X-ray MSK examinations, referral sources, patient ages, genders and presentations. This includes both clinical reporting and providing verbal clinical advice

To produce high quality images

To provide expert advice on image quality and appearance, advising adjustments where required

To assist with the training of staff to ensure competency in all radiographic examinations

To be an ambassador for good clinical practise

Participate in the trust development review process (appraisal)

Be able to counsel staff and students

Person specification

Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
  • PgD/PgC in Clinical Reporting Appendicular and Axial

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good understanding or Radiographic anatomy and pathology
  • Good understanding of IR(ME)R and IRR 17

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in independent plain film radiographic reporting

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to independently compose a formal report on all plain film MSK imaging
  • The ability to interact with referring clinicians to advise and take part in a multidisciplinary decision
  • Able to rapidly assess acceptability of an image and advise correction
  • Effectively articulate and communicate complex information
