We are recruiting for an Ward Hostess who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

Main duties of the job

To provide a comprehensive Hostess Service to the wards, to include the preparation and distribution of all meals and beverages to the patients, adhering to Food Hygiene and Infection Control.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Prepare and distribute all patient meals and beverages following dietary requirements.

Coordinate with nursing staff to understand patient-specific dietary needs, such as allergens, texture-modified meals, or cultural preferences.

Ensure daily temperature checks for food items and storage areas, accurately documenting findings.

Act as a liaison between patients, nursing staff, and catering teams to communicate meal-related information.

Engage with patients politely to accommodate their meal choices while adhering to dietary restrictions.

Will be required to work in more than one area of Estates and Facilities division.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 1 in Support Services or equivalent level of working experience
  • Basic Food Hygiene
Desirable criteria
  • Level 1 Food Safety Course
  • Level 1 Food Allergens Course

Experience
