We are looking for three part-time enthusiastic and adaptable Associate Medical Directors to join our caring and progressive team.
This developmental role has been created to support the Chief Medical Officer in medical leadership for the Trust.
The Chief Medical Officer and medical directorate has broad responsibilities including assuring (along with the Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Allied Health Professional) the Board that services provided by the Trust are high quality, safe and patient focussed. The Medical Directorate also provides advice and support to clinical services on clinical quality related matters, oversees the professional governance of doctors working for the Trust and leads the Continuous Improvement programme.
Main duties of the job
You will report directly to the CMO and individualised support and development plans will be agreed to allow the doctors to gradually build skills and expertise across a range of management, governance and leadership areas. You'll be given the opportunity to work across one or more areas, with opportunities to rotate over time to broaden experience.
Please note, this role will attract a responsibility allowance the value of which is yet to be agreed.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered on the GP or GMC Specialist Register
Desirable criteria
- Qualification in Business/Medical Management or Formal Leadership training or willingness to undertake this
Experience
Essential criteria
- Some experience of clinical and managerial leadership at team or practice level.
- At the time of appointment have been a medical practitioner throughout the previous 2 years
- Understanding of the NHS systems and agenda and strategic issues in health care and ability to interpret these in a given setting
- Understanding of current clinical and other issues relating to community healthcare
- Understanding of the corporate agenda including risk management and governance issues
- Can demonstrate understanding of role of clinical governance in primary, secondary and community care settings.
- Outline knowledge of regulations and the law as it relates to medical revalidation

- Proven leadership in improvement.
