Job overview

Please note, at this stage, the role is open only to internal staff (including NHSP and Agency staff currently on placement within our organisation) and staff substantively employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB). Any individual who is at risk of redundancy will be given priority, provided they meet the essential criteria.

We are seeking a Business Manager to oversee the operational and strategic management of the business administration systems supporting the Went Kent directorate Liaison Psychiatry Services to ensure that facilities and resources are managed effectively.

This involves working across two hospital sites and teams (Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells).

To provide professional and managerial leadership to the administrative staff and related support services. 

To ensure that processes are of high quality and appropriately targeted and developed within a recognised framework. 

The post holder, in collaboration with the Service Manager and Operational Team Managers, will ensure that the service operates efficiently and effectively, achieving all the data quality, clinical activity and income targets. 

The postholder will ensure that the service is compliant with all appropriate with Trust policies and initiatives and will assist with implementing or developing required actions in support of efficient service delivery.

Main duties of the job

• To support the Operational Team Managers and Service Manager to achieve required Trust Data Quality standards for service users.
•    In conjunction with the directorate Business Intelligence Partner to review, maintain and analyse performance reports to ensure that the service is measured against the key targets.
•    To actively promote standardised information sources across the service.
•    In conjunction with Operational Team Managers to collate, analyse and present performance and activity data and implement actions to improve data quality.
•    To update the shared drive.
Financial Performance Management
•    Contribute to meeting identified financial targets. 
•    To maintain responsibility for managing budget funds maintaining accurate records of expenditure.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

•    To manage the non-pay budget utilising electronic payments system.  
•    To be an authorised signatory for the service. 
•    To be responsible for ensuring that the standing financial procedures are followed, progress reports produced, ordering goods procedures are followed and completed in a timely manner.
•    To investigate any discrepancies on the non-pay budget and liaise with the directorate senior accountant to resolve these discrepancies.

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in the NHS
  • 5 GCSE Pass including English and Maths
  • Basic IT skills and customer service
Desirable criteria
  • Good working knowledge of nhs systems

Experience and qualification

  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills including presentations & publications

  • 2 years of nhs experience
