Job overview

Please note, at this stage, the role is open only to internal staff (including NHSP and Agency staff currently on placement within our organisation) and staff substantively employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB). Any individual who is at risk of redundancy will be given priority, provided they meet the essential criteria.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward-thinking, dynamic Operational Team Manager with a professional mental health qualification to lead the Medway Psychiatric Liaison Team as we transition to the national CORE 24 model, meeting Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust transformation priorities and with a view to obtaining PLAN accreditation.

We are seeking a transformational leader and manager to be responsible for utilising data and information from a range of sources to manage, monitor and maintain safe and effective day-to-day delivery of Maidstone Liaison Psychiatry service.

You will ensure the service performs at a high level, meeting key performance indicators and putting measures in place to address any areas of shortfalls.

This will include ensuring that staff feel empowered and invested in delivering excellence, and supporting them to achieve this.

You will also be responsible for managing resources, including manging a budget.

The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Main duties of the job

  • You will be a highly motivated, enthusiastic mental health professional committed to promoting patient-focused care and treatment for adults of all ages in an acute hospital environment.
  • Be accountable for teams' performance, operational delivery of safe and effective care and budget management in Community Services for adults over 18 years of age.
  • Empower staff to deliver high service performance by utilising a transformative and proactive approach
  • Meet the required local and national targets and standards in relation to quality, performance governance, workforce planning and finance
  • Develop a positive team "can do" attitude and culture through role modelling and setting out team expectation.
  • Strategic management of targets and performance, including waiting time and caseload management, day to day operational management which includes staff management such as wellbeing, sickness, absences, e-rostering, governance and financial management

Person specification

Essential

Essential criteria
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse, registered Social Worker or registered Occupational Therapist (holding diploma or degree qualification).
  • Teaching and assessing qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience at Band 6 as a mental health practitioner, including within the community
Desirable criteria
  • Management/Clinical Leadership qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience of managing change

  • Experience of managing a complex case load within a mental health setting
  • Ability to supervise, lead and coach others

  • Able to use resources effectively within an agreed budget.
