Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an expanding and dynamic Mental Health Act Team in Maidstone. 

This role requires someone with Mental Health Act knowledge and experience alongside the ability to work in a fast-paced office environment. 

The successful candidate must be able to adapt their workload to meet the needs of the service and at times work alone as well as within a wider team.  Prioritising is a must for this post, alongside general administration skills.

The post is full time Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.  You may be required to travel between KMPT sites at short notice.

The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Main duties of the job

  • Scrutinising section paperwork with the meaning of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice.
  • Liaising with service users and doctors and other professional teams to arrange patient tribunals.
  • Undertaking audits across acute wards in line with the Mental Health Act standards.
  • Providing training to nurses, doctors and other allied professionals.
  • Excellent communication skills are required to ensure the best possible liaison for patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Effectively manage own time and resources
  • To assist with MHA scrutiny visits. 
  • Provide advice and, when required, training on various aspects of the Mental Health Act, particularly scrutiny of documentation, to ward staff and participate in planned training events with colleagues.
