Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

English Language and Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
A Level or NVQ Level 3 (or above) or equivalent qualification in relevant area

Desirable criteria

Completion of healthcare related qualification / training programme
Completion of nutrition related qualification

Experience/Knowledge

Essential criteria

Background knowledge of nutrition and its role in health and disease
Experience of working in a caring / NHS environment, or equivalent
Experience of working as part of a team
Experience of self-directed working

Desirable criteria

Previous experience working as a therapy or health care assistant within the NHS
Experience of working in a nutrition related field
Awareness of the importance of nutrition screening tools e.g. MUST

Skills

Essential criteria

Good oral and written communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
Good interpersonal skills including observation, listening and empathy skills
Ability to prioritise and manage own workload
Good organisational skills
Good presentation skills, both written and verbal
Good time management

Desirable criteria

Experience of using dietary analysis packages
Experience of using specialist equipment for anthropometric assessment

Remote developmental histories and child observations (via video calls)
Peer MDT diagnostic decision-making, with the support of the senior clinical MDT where required
Tech-enabled outcome report writing
Outcome calls with parents and families (via video call)

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.
