Quality and Safety Business Support Officer

NHS AfC: Band 4

Job overview

The Quality and Safety Business Support Officer provides high quality administrative, coordination and information management support to the ICB’s Quality and Safety team, enabling the ICB to discharge its responsibilities for the quality and safety of services commissioned across Kent and Medway.

The postholder supports the team’s CMDT-aligned work (UEC and Flow; Elective Care, including maternity and neonatal services; Mental Health, Learning Disability and Autism; and Community and Primary Care) and its cross-cutting portfolios, including Patient Safety and System Learning, and Infection Prevention and Control. The role coordinates quality governance meetings, maintains the trackers and logs that underpin quality assurance and risk escalation, provides project support to the Quality and Safety Programme Manager, and ensures timely and accurate reporting to internal and system forums. A key area of responsibility is supporting the Quality and Safeguarding Insights Group, bringing together quality and safeguarding information so that emerging risks and themes are identified and acted on.

The postholder contributes directly to the organisation’s commitment to safe, high quality care for the people of Kent and Medway, and upholds NHS Kent and Medway’s values of care, inclusion, trust, integrity and continuous improvement.

Main duties of the job

•Provide specialist administrative and business support to the Quality and Safety team, including the Associate Director of Quality, Safety and Infection Control, the CMDT Leads and the Quality Leads.

•Manage diaries, schedule meetings, set up MS Teams sessions and coordinate virtual and in-person meetings, provider quality visits and events.

•Provide end-to-end business support to the Quality and Safeguarding Insights Group: maintaining its forward plan, commissioning and collating quality and safeguarding information and reports, preparing agendas and papers, taking accurate minutes and tracking actions and escalations to completion.

•Coordinate other quality governance meetings and task and finish groups, including the System Quality Group, provider quality review meetings and meetings held under the Quality Engagement and Risk Escalation Framework: preparing agendas, collating papers, taking accurate minutes and tracking actions to completion.

Please note, this vacancy does not meet the criteria for skilled worker sponsorship and therefore, we are unable to accept applications from candidates that cannot provide documentary evidence of right to work in the United Kingdom.

Working for our organisation

We are committed to a culture that supports all staff at NHS Kent and Medway to be the best version of themselves.

Our ability to improve outcomes for our population depends on how effectively clinical, operational, financial and strategic professionals work together to make informed commissioning decisions. That’s why our workforce works a minimum of two days-a-week on-site, with the expectation that all one-to-ones are held face-to-face and that colleagues will regularly visit the services we are commissioning to understand more about them.

We believe regular on-site working supports stronger collaboration, faster problem-solving, peer learning, visible leadership and the integration of colleagues into our organisation. We also know that culture is built through shared experiences and day-to-day interactions.

We are a flexible working friendly organisation; we aim to support you to work flexibly in a way that will suit you and us.

We work with staff to agree objectives through regular supervision, annual appraisal and access to training opportunities.

We are committed to equal opportunities and diversity. In order to reflect the diversity of our population, we positively encourage applications from all areas of the community regardless of gender, race, faith, disability, age or sexual orientation.
