Working within a small, fast-paced communications and engagement team (Head of Comms, Engagement Manager and Communications & Media Officer), you’ll play a key role in shaping how we communicate with colleagues across the organisation.

You’ll:
• Create engaging mixed-media content including video, podcasts and visual storytelling
• Lead and coordinate impactful internal campaigns
• Manage and enhance internal channels such as our intranet
• Help drive engagement that supports culture, recognition and organisational growth

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field
Desirable criteria
  • Professional qualification (CIPR, CIM or equivalent) or working towards.

Training

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Training in digital content production (video, podcasting, design or accessibility).

Specific Skills

Essential criteria
  • Technical knowledge of IT systems and software programmes such as Office 365, including familiarity with SharePoint.
  • Proficiency in Canva (or equivalent design software) and demonstrable experience creating engaging digital materials.
  • Awareness of responsible and ethical use of AI tools in communications within healthcare or public sector environments.
  • Experience using campaign/email marketing software to distribute communications and analyse engagement metrics.
  • Experience filming, editing and producing short-form video content suitable for internal audiences.
  • Understanding of podcast recording and basic editing processes.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG) and inclusive communication principles.
  • Knowledge of NHS structures and regulatory context including CQC and Ofsted.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience delivering internal communications in a complex organisation.
  • Experience coordinating communications projects from planning to delivery
  • Experience managing digital content platforms (e.g. SharePoint intranet).
  • Experience developing compelling written and visual content including testimonials and case studies.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working within the NHS or wider public sector.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of internal communications best practice.
  • Understanding of inclusive and accessible communication approaches.
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of CQC regulatory framework and quality improvement processes.
