Bank - Adhoc hours - Fixed rate of £90 per hour
Bromley Healthcare is looking for experienced medical input to support our community respiratory and Living Better, Living Well services. We are advertising one flexible opportunity, with scope to appoint more than one person depending on applicant interest, availability and service need.
The role can cover one or both of the following areas: Living Better, Living Well, which supports people with ongoing symptoms and functional impact following COVID, other post-viral illnesses and multiple symptoms; and COPD/community respiratory multidisciplinary meeting support, which requires a respiratory consultant. Applicants will be able to discuss their preferred area of work at interview.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide senior clinical input, advice and leadership within multidisciplinary discussions. The focus will be on safe, coordinated and patient-centred care for people with complex respiratory symptoms, chronic respiratory disease, oxygen needs, breathlessness, post-COVID symptoms or other long-term symptoms affecting daily function.
· Contribute to respiratory and/or Living Better, Living Well multidisciplinary meetings.
· Provide senior clinical advice on assessment, care planning, treatment optimisation, symptom management, escalation and onward referral.
· Support safe and timely decision-making for complex patients across community, primary care and acute interfaces.
· Help ensure agreed actions are clearly documented on EMIS and communicated to the right clinician, team or organisation.
· Support consistent clinical standards, good governance and clear communication across pathways.
· Contribute to service improvement, pathway development, audit and shared learning where required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Living Better, Living Well: This element may be suitable for a GP with a special interest, a respiratory consultant or a clinician with relevant general medical experience. The work includes senior clinical input into multidisciplinary discussions for patients with post-COVID, post-viral or multiple long-term symptoms, where respiratory symptoms may be one part of a wider presentation.
COPD and community respiratory MDM support: This element requires a respiratory consultant. The work includes clinical oversight and advice for patients discussed within respiratory multidisciplinary meetings, including complex COPD, breathlessness, oxygen needs, exacerbation prevention and onward referral where required.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Medical degree recognised by the GMC
- Either entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Respiratory Medicine, or CCT expected within six months of interview, or MRCGP with evidence of substantial respiratory experience and a recognised GPwSI portfolio in respiratory care
- MRCP, MRCGP or equivalent additional qualification relevant to the appointment route
Training
Essential criteria
- Evidence of continuing professional development consistent with consultant or GPwSI practice
- Training and experience relevant to respiratory medicine with interest in COPD, long-term conditions management, oxygen assessment, multidisciplinary working and community-based care
Skills
Essential criteria
- Strong multidisciplinary working skills across community, primary and secondary care
- Ability to lead and contribute effectively within multidisciplinary meetings Clear clinical documentation, communication and shared decision-making skills
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience in respiratory medicine or respiratory-focused primary care
- Experience of managing patients with chronic respiratory disease, complex breathlessness, oxygen needs and exacerbation prevention
Desirable criteria
- Ability to travel across Bromley services and partner sites as required on occasion
