An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Maternity unit based at our Tunbridge Wells Hospital @ Pembury site
We are looking for a qualified nurse with enthusiasm for exceptional care and someone who has a desire to work in Maternity in order to provide excellent outcomes for our new parents. Main duties of the job
You will be expected to participate in care to birthing people on Delivery suite and the Postnatal Unit and assist with all aspects of post operative care, those with complex medical conditions and support the Midwives with ongoing care plans.
There will also be an expectation that you will liaise closely with the Midwives and Area Managers to ensure efficient and effective bi-directional communication, in order to deliver a high quality service to the new parents. You will also contribute to the professional development of junior staff within the department and enhance their skills as a role model.
The role will cover 24 hrs, 7 days a week, including Bank Holidays. Occasionally you may need to travel across site to support our Maternity services or birth centre based at our Maidstone site, although this will be on a rare occasion.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.
Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email [email protected] if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at Enhanced Level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse with NMC registration. Adult Branch
- Recognised Mentorship Course or willingness to undertake.
Desirable criteria
- Specialist course relevant to area
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Having an in-depth knowledge of the issues surrounding the scope of professional practice and accountability
- Experience within an acute or Hospital setting
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of the principles and processes involved in clinical governance
- Understanding of the UNICEF baby friendly initiative
Skills
Essential criteria
- Experience as a qualified nurse
- Possess a high standard of communication skills, both written and oral.
- Be able to effectively co-ordinate workload and liaise with the multi-disciplinary team.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- To show enthusiasm to develop new innovations and skills to enhance practice.
- To possess good inter-personal skills.
