Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate clinical psychotherapist / psychologist with experience of working with families, carers and children in a health care setting.

This role is in collaboration with our established parent support sister in meeting the psychological needs of our service users and neonatal team.

Main duties of the job

Provide evidence-based interventions for the families / carers of babies on the neonatal unit 

Debriefs for staff when there has been a challenging event

In collaboration with the parent support sister to triage and manage the needs of service users.

Liaise with the Neonatal Operational Delivery Network

To promote and guide parent led ward rounds. 

Work as part of the senior neonatal team to provide highly specialised psychological assessment, intervention and evidence-based treatments for parents / carers and also neonatal staff experiencing trauma and anxiety arising from, and impacting their role within the Trust.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Psychologist / Psychotherapist
  • Professional Doctorate in Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy
  • Registration with the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP)
Desirable criteria
  • Mental Health First Aider
  • Trauma Risk Management
  • Training in CBT

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in acute hospital setting within neonates.
  • Autonomous practice experience utilizing clinical judgement in complex casework
  • Experience of delivering group work for training and support
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working
  • Experience of promoting wellbeing and social inclusion
  • Experience of working within a multi-cultural framework
Desirable criteria
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Participation in audit/research and development programmes

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Conflict Management skills
  • Must possess excellent communication skills
  • Expertise in supervision
  • Delivery of how to deliver psychological therapy across cultural and other differences
  • Report writing skills.
