Job overview
The Community Chronic Pain Service is a multidisciplinary team of expert chronic pain clinicians. We support people with persistent pain to develop self-management strategies, enabling them to live well. This post is suitable for a Clinical Nurse Specialist or an Allied Health Professional with an interest in pain management.
Our aim is to help individuals develop the skills needed to improve their quality of life and reduce their dependency on healthcare services and medication.
This service is delivered in a variety of settings, face to face clinics, group settings and virtually.
As well as community clinics you will deliver care within the secure (prison) environment. We deliver our award-winning Pain Management Service in all of the Kent prisons therefore travel will be an
essential part of this post.
Main duties of the job
- Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating holistic care in relation to care planning/pathways
- Developing integrated care programmes in partnership with service users, commissioners and key stakeholders.
- Ensuring a supervision framework is in place for staff under their care and support in the development of relevant competencies across staff groups
- Actively working as a member of the integrated team to ensure high quality care is provided to service users.
- Maintaining own specialist area of competence, and leading on the competency frameworks for others
- Having the ability to synthesise information in order to present proposals effectively to decision makers (including Directors and Senior Executives) in ways which facilitate their understanding and
influence pathways - Making recommendations to decision makers in order to drive forward innovative solutions to achieve business objectives, service improvement strategies and financial efficiencies linked to packages of prescribed care or identified projects

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC or HCPC registered
- Health related degree and evidence of relevant post graduate development at Level 6
- Evidence of Post Graduate Specialist qualifications relevant to area of practice
- Non-medical prescriber or willingness to work towards
Desirable criteria
- PTLLS/DTLLS, PGCE or Certificate in Education
- MSc or working towards Master level study
- Management or supervisory qualification/programme of study
- Member of relevant special interest groups
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive clinical experience in area of practice working at band 6/7 level
- Experience of developing policy and service development plans and experience of change management
- Practical experience in managing health related projects/complex caseloads
- Supporting others (mentor / educator / supervisor ) experience
Desirable criteria
- Pain Management experience
- Leading/managing teams
- Delivering clinical care in a group setting
Specialist knowledge and expertise
Essential criteria
- Understanding multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary working
- Understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance relevant to care setting and its application across health care services
