Job overview

Main duties of the job
We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated Band 5 Nurse to join our friendly, rehabilitation‑focused inpatient ward. With 14 beds, our service provides high‑quality assessment and rehab for patients who need more support than they can receive at home, but who do not require acute hospital care. We also welcome step‑down patients from Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and, when needed, from out‑of‑area hospitals.
Our goal is simple: to help patients regain independence wherever possible and equip them with the confidence and strategies they need to return home safely. You’ll work closely with patients, carers and relatives to ensure every aspect of care—from admission assessment and joint goal setting to planning, implementation and evaluation—is personalised, effective and empowering.
As part of our multidisciplinary team, you’ll play a key role in delivering holistic, patient‑centred care that truly makes a difference. Qualifications, training and experience
Essential criteria
- You will have a Level 6 Degree or equivalent qualification, or equivalent knowledge acquired through experience plus a diploma in nursing
- You’ll need to have recent experience of healthcare gained through education, work experience or previous employment
- You will be a registered health care professional with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
Knowledge and skills
Essential criteria
- You will need to have a customer focussed approach
- Provide patients, clients and their families with the best possible experience
- You will need to be able to be able to use IT systems and databases
- You will understand where to signpost clients and families to alternative services to support behaviour change and improve health
- You will have knowledge of up-to-date clinical practice by using up- to- date skills and adhering to evidence-based procedures and clinical effectiveness frameworks. You will fully understand the role and remit of a health care worker
