Job overview

East Lancashire Podiatry Service provides high quality care to the residents of East Lancashire both in clinic and domiciliary settings and the admin staff within the service play a key role in delivering this care. We are looking for an individual who is flexible, conscientious and hard working to support our existing staff in delivering a high quality, patient focused service.

Main duties of the job

This is a busy and varied role encompassing a range of admin and clerical duties. Receiving and processing referrals on EMIS clinical records, booking appointments and dealing with patient enquiries are some of the duties. The service is looking to recruit an individual with excellent customer care skills.

Candidates will need to be flexible as the role may involve working across other localities to support the needs of the service. The ability to drive and access to a vehicle is essential.

Candidates will need to have good working knowledge of IT systems, Word, Excel and Email. Experience of EMIS or similar system is also required.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • GCSE in English and Maths 4-6
  • NVQ Level 3/ RSA ll or equivalent experience in secretarial or administration qualification
  • ECDL or equivalent IT skills
  • Ability to take notes of meeting and produce minutes to a high standard
  • Experience of dealing with the general public
  • High level of communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work on own initiative and tight deadlines
  • Ability to multitask whilst working in a busy office environment when dealing with regular interruptions
  • Ability to demonstrate strict confidentiality and sensitivity when dealing with the general public
Desirable criteria
  • Emis Experience
  • Experience of working in the NHS

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Proven ability to manage all arrangements pertaining to meetings, transcribing minutes, dealing with actions
  • High level of communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritise workload
